Silver carries a 12-month, 12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty and 12 months of roadside assistance. All of it is backed by Toyota and honored at Toyota dealers across the United States, which matters more than it sounds: coverage that only worked at the store that sold you the car would be worth considerably less on a drive north in the summer.
Because the Gold powertrain limit is 100,000 miles on the odometer rather than 100,000 more, how much of it is left depends on the individual vehicle. A low-mileage certified RAV4 and a high-mileage certified Camry are carrying very different amounts of remaining coverage, and that is a real part of what separates their prices. Ask for the remaining coverage in writing on the specific vehicle; it takes a minute to look up and it changes how the numbers compare.

If the decision is still open, work down from how the vehicle gets used rather than up from a nameplate. A certified sedan is the least expensive way into factory-backed coverage and it is where low-mileage late-model stock turns up most often. Certified hybrids run right through this list rather than sitting in a corner of it, and on a typical week a real share of what is here is hybrid.
