In 2023, Toyota finally released the Tacoma SWD. The SWD is the third in Toyota’s 2020 Tacomas, specifically designed for harsh environments. The year was 2022 when the Tacoma was first unveiled to many fans’ approval, but not without hesitancy about the price tag and quality. The original Tacoma was half the price of an SWD and was marketed towards lower-income families. Still, the 2020 Tacoma was significantly more expensive and slightly improved from the previous version.
Performance
Many users wanted more than the power output from lithium-ion batteries. The maximum speed of a stock 2023 Tacoma SWD is 70 MPH, but it takes almost three minutes to reach this speed. Accelerating from 0-40 MPH takes less than 8 seconds, making it a very slow vehicle. Combined with its low torque, it makes acceleration difficult and slow. For average consumers, this is barely an issue. Still, for some professionals that need to carry heavy objects quickly, the gear ratio of a 2023 Tacoma SWD needs to be higher. It will make getting to their destination much more difficult.
Germain Toyota of Naples, fl, is recalling all 2016 Tacoma trucks for a gear shift malfunction that could make driving hard without the gear shifting lever on the floor. According to Toyota’s recall notice, pressurized nitrogen can leak from a seal in the gear shift linkage and spray into the transmission oil. Germain Toyota of Naples offer these services.
Interior and Features
The interior of an SWD is mostly the same as a stock Tacoma bed: the steering wheel remains the same, but most other steering controls have been redesigned and can be turned on or off. The key fob has been redesigned and now attaches to a keyless pad instead of connecting to the actual fob itself. When turning the engine on, two tones alternate between high and low. Seats have been redesigned and can go back considerably farther than previous models. The headrests are slightly taller, as well. The dash has also been redesigned to include LCD screens showing live feeds from the rear of the vehicle or entertainment such as Netflix. A front or rear camera can be purchased separately and installed in Tacoma.
The virtual test drive of the 2023 Tacoma SWD is pretty straightforward. The steering wheel turns, it has two gear shifts (Park and Reverse), an accelerator, and breaks. Pressing the accelerator and brakes revs up the engine while pressing reverse makes the cargo bed pop out. The virtual test drive is geared towards parents comparing different sizes of trucks with their children. Test drive online is available from Toyota’s website.
Safety
The 2023 Tacoma was already a relatively safe vehicle, but its crash test scores needed higher for public consumption. By redesigning Tacoma’s cabin, Toyota can achieve five stars in all 9 IIHS safety tests. The frame has been strengthened and redesigned to add additional rigidity and has also been given an extra layer of armor. The most significant change is the addition of side airbags protecting front passengers in frontal collisions. The 2023 Tacoma also got updated optional safety features, such as a forward collision warning system.
Take an Online Test Drive
The red take a virtual drive button will activate a selection screen that allows the user to select any of the above mentioned features. The screen will then show the car in question in the location that the user specified on their “test drive” form. The user will then have to press “proceed” to start driving.360° Video: The user can choose a path on a digital map, and the car will proceed to go down said path. The 360° video will show what the user would see while driving, including the car’s interior. Online virtual test drive: The user will choose a location on a digital map, and the vehicle will then drive to that location. The user will then have to press “Submit” to start moving. They can also buy car online without going to the dealership.
The 2023 Tacoma has been reviewed as a reliable vehicle that you can purchase within the price range of other mid-sized pickup trucks. The starting price for a stock 2023 Tacoma is $26,620, which includes all mandatory safety and emission equipment. The most significant new feature in the 2023 Tacoma is side airbags, which will most likely be considered when making a purchase decision.
