In 2023, Toyota finally released the Tacoma SWD. The SWD is the third in Toyota’s 2020 Tacomas, specifically designed for harsh environments. The year was 2022 when the Tacoma was first unveiled to many fans’ approval, but not without hesitancy about the price tag and quality. The original Tacoma was half the price of an SWD and was marketed towards lower-income families. Still, the 2020 Tacoma was significantly more expensive and slightly improved from the previous version.
Performance
Many users wanted more than the power output from lithium-ion batteries. The maximum speed of a stock 2023 Tacoma SWD is 70 MPH, but it takes almost three minutes to reach this speed. Accelerating from 0-40 MPH takes less than 8 seconds, making it a very slow vehicle. Combined with its low torque, it makes acceleration difficult and slow.
